Air vs liquid: the 2026 truth

Two caveats that prevent unnecessary panic:

Short spikes to 90 °C aren’t a problem. Modern processors are designed to work near their limit and drop clocks if needed. What matters is the sustained temperature, not the two-second spike when a game loads.

X3D chips run hotter by design. Their stacked cache concentrates heat in a small area, so seeing a 9800X3D at 80 °C while gaming is normal, not a sign the cooler is failing.
